Are you ready to make a fresh start in the new year, and to make 2024 your best year yet? Then this half-day retreat is for you!

We are beyond excited to share this retreat with you at Bluebirds Haarlem.

//Bettine & Camilla

Half-day Retreat

Experience how good it can feel to let go of (“release”) old habits and patterns, which are no longer serving you. Once you release, you inevitably create space for “the new”: The new year, new challenges, new intentions, and a renewed connection to yourself.

We created this half-day retreat, because we want you to feel, look, and be the best possible version of yourself, starting now.

We all get challenged in life: Sometimes we get sick, injured, overwhelmed, burned out, or we just feel stuck and we don’t know how to move forward. It helps to have the tools to deal with those challenges in a way that supports your physical body, as well as your state of mind, once those challenges arise. So that you are fully equipped to handle and enjoy all that life has to offer.

Yoga Therapy offers gentle, yet powerful tools to use in your yoga practice and beyond. You have everything you need inside of you, it is just a matter of uncovering what you already know.

Sounds good? We are here to help. This is how:

PART 1

In the first part of the retreat we will help you release tension, stiffness, and discomfort through myofascial release-techniques targeting the fascia (connective tissue) in your body.

What is myofascial release and how does it benefit you?

“Myo” is just short for muscle tissue. “Fascia” is a thin casing of connective tissue that provides structure and stability to the body and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fibre and muscle in place. When fascia is compromised, you have less range of motion, and there is less exchange of nutrition for the joints. It also increases your sensitivity to pain, and it increases your susceptibility to early onset of degeneration.

With myofascial release you can release and restore the fascia by applying pressure to tight or sore areas with the aim to release tension from these areas and help them relax. When done regularly and mindfully, myofascial release can improve your range of motion, reduce soreness and assist the tissue recovering process, improve circulation, release tension and stress.

PART 2

In the second half of the retreat we will help you connect with your body in a new way through a specific yoga sequence.

The sequence is a Yoga Therapy-inspired physical yoga practice. This practice is an invitation to find what feels good for you. Oftentimes, when we practise yoga, we get side tracked by what we are “supposed to do”, what “should feel good”, or what we “should look like” in a posture. And we forget to look inwards for answers. Deep down you know exactly what you need at any given moment, the challenge is to be present long enough so you can hear it.

This practice will help you reconnect with various parts of your body, as well as your body as a whole. We will also invite you to observe the role your mind plays in your yoga practice. Through that observation you will gain knowledge on how your mind can best serve you in your yoga practice and beyond.

GIFT

This half-day retreat is the ultimate (Christmas) gift for yourself, for your partner, and for your friends and family! Imagine the beautiful year ahead when you take this retreat together ;-).

ABOUT BETTINE

Bettine has had a passion for movement and health throughout her life. She started teaching yoga in 2007 and opened her (hot) yoga studio in 2010 in Haarlem. A perpetual student, Bettine continued to train and teach in various yoga traditions over the years, as well as yoga therapy.

When she closed her yoga studio after 10 years in the midst of the pandemic, she fully committed to her work as a yoga therapist. She now runs her yoga therapy studio (New Health Yoga Therapy) at Bluebirds Haarlem.

She loves working one on one with her yoga therapy clients, because of the in-depth and individual support this work offers her clients. She also still loves sharing her love for yoga and teaching in group classes, offered in a supportive, therapeutic, and always inviting way.

Bettine believes in creating a healthy connection between body and mind, allowing for movement with ease and grace, and a relaxed state of mind. She believes you deserve to find what feels good and she is passionate about helping you get there.

She also believes having fun, and not taking yourself too seriously are the true keys to happiness.
